Is late Oct still a good time to do the N half of Pa?
It is past the peak leaf change time. There will be a bunch of leaves on the ground and can be slick if it rains. You will have more views through the trees. It won't be hot. There is always an odd chance of snow but not typically. There will not be crowds. Anytime on the trail is better than on the couch. Have fun!
Late October through November is a great time for Pennsylvania backpacking. Good views, comfortably chilly at night and not too hot during the day.
And if you are lucky,, the leaves will be at their peak color at that time too.
