Default Dungeness Spit -- New Dungeness Light

If you have a day to spare when you are in the Northwest, I recommend a visit to the New Dungeness Light Station. It sits near the end of a sand spit that juts out into the Strait of Juan de fuca. The 5 1/2 mile hike out to the light gives one the opportunity to observe a variety of birds and sea animals. All of the ships that visit Puget Sound or the Port of Vancouver, Canada pass right by. On a clear day, you can see from Victoria, Canada to Seattle. Here is a shot of the light house.
