    Default Stealth Camps

If stealth means illegal then these sites might help you get thru, but what will it do for those that follow? With planning you will be able to camp legally the whole trip - we did. Some days might be shorter than you want and some might be longer. Breaking the rules can only bring on more regulation and fees - it's just a matter of time.

Stealth camps are not necessarily illegal, it just mean hidden from sight. You can stealth camp almost anywhere on the trail. You just have to be aware of the regulations in some areas. Those areas should be mentioned in the guidebooks.

I consider almost any "unofficial" campsite to be a stealth site. Some are more hidden than others. Many are right along the trail and very obvious. That includes places in the Whites.
