A day hiker hoping to transition into long-distance backpacker whenever life allows it
Backpacker: I like doing multi-day hikes taking everything I need with me on my back.
"SmASH-er": (small *** section hiker, 3-5 days out at a time all I can do right now...commitments, commitments).
When I can't go out for more than a day, I turn into a dirty, nasty, car camper or *gasp* day hiker.
"The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,

I guess I am a hiker wannabe; wish I could spend more time than 2 or 3 weekends a year on the AT. Maybe someday.........
