Default 2016 SWBO CT Thru Hike

I am planning a CT hike starting in late June or early July depending on snow.

I am just checking to see who is going to be on the trail this year.

I live in Denver and am happy to help with logistics if anyone needs it
or if anyone wants to go on some hikes this spring to get trail ready.

Wish I could go this year but I already have other plans with people elsewhere for hikes and horse packing. Next year is my plan for the CT

My plans have changed and I am now hoping for a mid June start if the snowpack allows it. Maybe I will see you out there!

    Good luck

Snow levels are running about normal to slightly above normal in the section of the trail (starting around sections 6-7-8) where your timing might give you some semi-difficult conditions in late June, but it's way early to tell what the heaviest snow months, March/April will bring. We've had a decent warm/dry spell here in the last couple weeks, though I think Copper and Breck are getting some snow this week.

Right now I'm slightly optimistic about mid-June starts (for SWBO), but again, stay tuned! the big dumps are coming. Or not.

This could be the first time I have ever hoped for no snow. Usually I am doing the snow dance whenever I am planning a trip!

Yeah, I am planning on the collegiate loop starting the last week of June, starting on the east side to hopefully give the snow on the west side another week to melt. Going to be keeping my fingers crossed that the dumping of snow in the late spring isn't too heavy.

I am planning on starting beginning of July. I might push it back to mid July depending on the snowpack. I still haven't decided if I'm going collegiate east or west.
