    Question Roan Mountain Balds.

Hello all, I'm trying to find out, on average, when the Spring flowers start blooming up on the balds.

Depends, some like bloodroot can be up at the end of March. The early spring ephemerals go for a month or more in April. May has a lot more, but as LW says the rhododendrons don't really get started until June. What exactly are you looking for?

Berries and Grey Lilies mid June to July. The last couple years the Rodos went quick. So mid June.

More wildflowers. Drove up this past fall for the rhododendrons. Coming in April with grandchildren. Thanks.

We went through there early June last year. Some locals told us they expected peak rhodo bloom within 3-4 days.
