Post Hot to bail out the Colorado Trail and how to make it back from Durango to Denver?

    Hello everyone:
I have two questions that I would appreciate your help with:
    1. In case one decides to bail out at any given point along the trail: How do I make it back from resupply towns (like Breckenridge, Salida, Lake City, Silverton, etc.) back to Denver Airport? Is there any kind of transportation linking these towns with Denver?
    2. Once I finish my hike in Durango, how do I make it back to Denver Airport?
Thank you so much for your help.
    Julio

Have you ever heard of an open jaw plane ticket? Home to Denver. Durango back home. Probably not the least expensive way, but it certainly would be convenient.
Or fly from Durango to Denver.
Talk to the airlines. I wouldn't try to arrange this online.
    Good luck!

You can catch bus from gunnison, salida, buena vista on black hills stage. You can take shuttle service from breck. You can fly from gunnison and durango. You can hitch. From silverton you take train to durango. From lake city theres no public transport so dont bail there unless you talk up a ride from someone.

You may also be able to do a one way car rental to the airport. A little expensive, but worth it. You can also fly from Durango to Denver.

The train from Silverton to Durango is almost $100. I would try a hitch first.

I took a bus from Durango to Albuquerque and flew from there. It may not be running anymore.

The shuttle to denver from silverton is only $25 bucks and picks up behind the McDonalds at around 5 am every morning. Past there lake city or creed would be very difficult with out hitching or yogiing a ride. Greyhound runs daily from Durango to denver for around 60 - 80 depending on the day of the week. If you find yourself in Breckenridge or Copper I would recommend the CME (Colorado Mountain Express), they go from resort towns straight to the airport.

Tell me that your first sentence should read Durango and not Denver.

I'm thinking they meant Silverthorne, not Silverton. I've seen those confused so many times
