Default Changed thru hike start date, need a little help with travel logistics

    Hello all,

I decided to move my flip flop thru hike up one week, leaving next Tuesday, which has changed my means of getting to Harper's Ferry. So I will be taking a greyhound from Memphis to Washington DC, then trying to get to Harper's Ferry by using one of the two train systems.

Does anyone know the best (cheapest) choice for this? And my Google maps isn't being very helpful with finding out how far it is from the greyhound station to Union station (for trains).

Also, I noticed the trains go to H.F. late in the evening, so does anyone have a suggestion on the best place to stay the night in town? My AWOL book lists a few..butid rather go off of a WB'ers experience.

    Thanks in advance

The Greyhound bus line is located upstairs in Union Station. Two trains service Harper Ferry leaving W DC in the afternoon.

If you're going to take the train, the Maryland commuter rail system (MARC) train is going to be cheaper than Amtrak. All three of your transit options (bus, local train, and Amtrak) leave from Union Station (which is where the Greyhound will drop you off as well).
