    Default 90% cocoa Lindt chocolate

This is a dark semi-sweet chocolate.

It is a different chocolate experience: one square. Really.

The chocolate is intense, and has a momentary cherry-aftertaste.

Sounds like a classic "Gateway Drug" to me.
Where should I look for it?
Any idea what the melting point is? Will it get messy in an outside pocket or inside my backpack? I may not care.

The higher the percent chocolate the higher the melt point, I carry 85% hiking with it only melting from my hot fingers while eating it!

I have seen no sign of melting, so far.

I found it in the grocery store.

I don't think it is a "gateway drug" because one square satisfies.

It is sold in foil, much like a Hershey chocolate bar, but bigger than that.

Years aho, I carried semi-sweet Baker's chocolate. It didn't melt in my backpack either. Today, I don't know. There seems to be less chocolate in chocolate.

I like Nestley's Dark, for backpacking, when I can find it. But I eat it all up, in one go.

This 90% cocao Lindt chocolate, I stop at one square.

I have had "sipping chocolate" which is similiar.

I don't know the particulars, but one square satisfies.

I can't say that for other chocolate products.

I will try 70% if I see it.

Walmart. Order online. Pick up at store. If I don't see it on a shelf.
Thanks for the melting information. That is good to know. I'll never understand the Snickers addiction among hikers. Those things melt as soon as the sun is up.

    But it tastes like medicine!

    It is different.

I know some brands high content cocao chocolate tastes better than other brands.

I found out chocolate craving may be all about lacking Magnesium: if you have Cal-Mag there are no chocolate cravings. If true, It would be more convenient to have a Cal-Mag tablet if I have chocolate cravings.

The chocolate does have calories per ounce, but not the best for sure - looking at nutrition.

It isn't only a craving. With no craving at all, I get a morale boost as well as the caffeine in chocolate.

It has only 3 g sugar per serving. That's great.
Most other "chocolate" is really chocolate flavored sugar... best avoided.

I always bring a chocolate bar, always dark. I usually go for the 'Endangered Species 88%', but the Lindt 90% is great too. Connie is right, just one square a day is all I need, but it satisfies a craving that nothing else can fill.

And Dark Chocolate (not the sugary crap) has many health benefits.

Dark chocolate pairs well with scotch or bourbon. Give it a try.

Because health benefits was mentioned, I tried google search for health benefits: 2-3 squares per week are recommended for the special antioxidants in high % cacao chocolate.

I like how I feel from one square, so much, I think the claims may be true.

I will try different % and different brands for flavor and for not melting (in my backpack).

If I'm gonna live with guilt of chocolate, then it's gonna be dark chocolate!

With dark chocolate there is no guilt, without the sugar it is a vegetable!

I've found it at a dollar store here forgot which dollar store. I can't do cheap chocolate anymore these days. Also regarding melting it has a way higher melt point thus the reason the army use to include bakers chocolate in the survival kits especially desert survival.

Check out Lindtusa.com for the full list of options, I love the lime chocolate bar. It is high end chocolate, and in full disclosure, I do work for them but I was addicted before I started working for them.

I usually get the (Ghiradelli?) 86% at WalMart. Individually wrapped squares, a package lasts a couple of weeks. Like Connie, one square is enough, and like 3_Dogs, it goes great with a good scotch.
