REI Flash 65 that I bought a few months ago is very roomy, comfortable frame, and right at $200. If there's an REI near you, you might want to go try one on. Great thing about it is the compression straps. If you're only going out for a weekender, you can cinch the thing down to cradle only the items you're taking. It's only about 3 lbs.

Anyone know anything/used the bergans of Norway 55 pack? Can get a used one for much cheaper than another bigger HMG/ULA pack and it's much lighter than most anything else besides cottage gear.

I've had my catalyst at 45 lbs for my first winter over nighter and it was fine. I was handling it with care and I'd do it again if I had to but I hopefully won't. I put hauling loops on the bottom for my ccf pad and had more then I needed.
