    Default Thanks WhiteBlaze

for all of the help you have provided me in planning for the CT. I greatly appreciate the knowledge WB members have and the fact that you are willing to share it. You have been very valuable to me and I very much appreciate the effort everyone took in responding to my threads.

I fly into Denver and begin my journey on Saturday.

Thanks again and until I return, happy trails!

Good luck on your hike, archie. The Collegiate loop is on my radar screen for sometime in the next couple years, but a CT thru-hike will have to wait until I retire. Hope your flight goes smoothly and you get to the trail with no glitches.

melt is on, but theres still a lot of snow reported above 11000.
I assume you is watching that closely.

Sounds like a great time to me. I likes a little white stuff on the peaks, makes for nicer pictures.
    Have a great trip.

    No blog.

Thanks for the snow report, although I am now more concerned with the heat predicted for the first 3 days. yuck. I would take post holing over 100 degrees ANY day of the week. I will probably be looking for snow patches to cool off in by the time I reach Georgia pass.

Not that hot up high at all, it will feel great. Your only hot spots will be waterton canyon, which lasts 6.5 miles, and section 2, mostly bare because of 2002 burn. Get super early start up waterton, 6am, 7 latest if you can.

Thanks again for all the help everyone provided me with this hike. It was fantastic! I am thinking of repeating it again sometime soon.

The heat was my greatest challenge. At or near 100 degrees all the way to the top of long gulch where a hailstorm cooled everything off nicely. Smooth sailing from there on.
