I read this in a shelter in NC from a hiker named the Weatherman, "Whether the weather is cold, or whether the weather is hot, we must weather the weather whatever the weather, whether we like it or not." My belief is there are so many places to get off the trail and out of the weather in the first hundred plus miles, there is no need to worry much about the weather. It seems you are generally less than a day's hike from some kind of trail or crossing. Prepare for wet and keep your camp clothes and sleeping bag bone dry and you will be fine. If you get to cold, set up camp, get on your dry clothes and get in your bag.
