No doubt...thought you were used to this kind of weather living in NH. I felt like "Tipi" in one of mother natures hell storms....only got blown down 4 times...

We got our first real snow yesterday (roughly 6"+ on the CT in the San Juan's). 3" down here at 9,500 but significantly more on the CT. I was near the high point and snow this morn is around 6"-8". Low this morn were in the low 20s at 9,500.

Rough last couple of days. We zeroed at cataract lake in segment 23 yesterday due to snow. It snowed off and on for about 36 hours. This morning we broke 10 miles of trail to Stony Pass where we caught a ride into Silverton. There were some drifts 3' deep. Hopefully it will melt off and give us a week to finish this thing.

Congrats - I have fond memories of the Collegiate West including those passes and really want to go back! And Salida is a great town. Have fun.

Possible and likely Sept weather has been well analyzed and documented by the CTF and Mags at their sites and/or increased detail in their guides.

The first half of September was summer like. Too bad that the airline messed up your schedule.
Glad you made it to the end in one piece.

Granted, September is variable. However, I still think it's the best month for hiking. As always, prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
