Default Mountain Home B&B Front Royal VA

Anyone stayed there? The AT companion makes it sounds like it right by the trail. And they offer most everything (kitchen shower, laundry, wifi, even runs to town).

Not sure if laundry is an option, but Scott and Lisa are wonderful hosts who have done a great job hosting hikers for several years now.

Is it really ten miles from the trail? Other sources make it sound just a few feet?

It's probably 100 yards from the trail and they will take you into Front Royal to do laundry, go to restaurants, and resupply. There's a Goodwill in town where I found a pair of pants for $5 that I used for the rest of the trail. The hostel is a really nice and well kept place, Lisa and Scott are super accommodating and Scott is a past thru hiker who will provide nuggets of wisdom.

Stayed here 2 years ago for 3 nights during a 110 mile trip while a huge storm system worked its way thru. They were very accommodating and there was a full house of us there. They made it feel like home.

Stayed there last week. Both Scott (Thur-hiker) and Lisa are very good people. The hostel is a wonderful refuge and only minutes from the trail. Yes, they do laundry and cook breakfast. The hiker box is full and I would absolutely recommend this cozy place.

The driveway for Mountain Home Cabbin and B&B is just 120 yards east of the AT on Rte 522. Keep in mind that the trail parallels the road for 1/4 mile from where it actually crosses 522. Hope that helps!

Scott also provides a Breakfast to maintain this location as a B&B and not a Hostel. It is easy to get any and all a Hikers needs are met. Best option in Fromt Royal IMHO.

Great place to begin a section hike north or south bound from Front Royal. My son and I stayed there in mid August and had the Cabbin all to ourselves. We entertained ourselves playing the available "Appalachian Trail" game. We ended a SNP section in 2017 there and began our FR-HF section leaving our vehicle at Mountain Home. They are in the process in converting the house into a more traditional B and B but will still be directed to hikers I believe.

The trail literally abutting their property going north from the road. This is a very unique and a special place.

Mountain Home Cabbin is just 120 steps off the trail on Rte 522. The Cabbin has six beds that sleep up to eight people. Additional space and private rooms are available in the Main House, just a stone's throw from the Cabbin. We're open year-round and can be reached at: 540-692-6198 or [email protected]
