Default Dispersed Car Camping in GW National Forest, within 2.5 hrs of Richmond

Hello all, I am a newbie to the Whiteblaze group, but an oldie when it comes to casual camping and hanging out in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Three of us plan to do some camping in the next few weeks. This time we want to car camp, but not be at a campground. I'm looking for some good suggestions. Our initial though is to go up SR 826 towards Crabtree Meadows and pull off in one of the established sites. I was also pointed towards Mt Pleasant and areas off Wiggins Spring Rd or Long Mt Way. I'm pretty familiar with SR 826, but not Mt Pleasant area.

We'd like to be fairly secluded. We'd like to be near a stream, although I know we can't camp on a stream. We'd like to be able to camp by our trucks.

Any suggestions or tips would be very appreciated. Let me know what other info I may of left out

    John

Hog Camp Gap (the Mt. Pleasant / Cole(d) Mtn. / Tar Jacket Ridge gap) is a really exceptional camping area, but it is pretty popular, open, and there is no creek there.

Thanks for the tip. I've heard good things about this place.
