I read there might not be any service at Dicks Creek, is this still the case?

Are you looking to set up a ride? It was a super easy hitch when we were there in the offseason.
No, sort of. Might need to communicate with someone down there when we arrive.
Very poor coverage there but 1/4mi West down the hi way is Top of Ga Hostel.
I've gotten a good signal (via Verizon) previously at Moreland Gap. It's about 1mile from Dicks and has an obvious camping area.
Remote for detachment, narrow for chosen company, winding for leisure, lonely for contemplation, the Trail beckons not merely north and south, but upward to the body, mind, and soul of man.
Verizon has no coverage at the gap itself. One mile up at Moreland Gap there is LTE signal.
Soumodeler is right. I was at the gap about a month ago and no cell service (verizon). However, you don't have to go far at all to get excellent service. If you're calling for a pick up at Dick's creek, just make sure you do so about 3-4 miles south on the trail or walk to TOG Hostel (about 1/2 mile easy walk).
