    Default My Trail Packs

Anyone have any experience with the new packs from the former GoLite brand?

    http://mytrailco.com/products/backpack-light-50l

I'm wondering how similar it is to the Jam 50. The compactor system looks interesting. It also seems to be rated for more weight. Wondering if the frame sheet is more rigid or different than the Jam. I plan to email My Trail, but I was curious if anyone has the pack. I can't find any reviews online. Thanks.

There are 4 reviews right at the website you link to, if you scroll down. Granted, that's the company website and maybe they wouldn't post negative ones if there were any. Who knows. There's also a preview of it on this forum by someone who ordered one.

I have a hiking buddy who has the 50L one and she is very pleased with it so far.

Thanks. Yeah, I saw the reviews on the company's website, but I'm always a bit suspicious of those types of things. Thanks for the link to the photos on the whiteblaze page. That gave me a better idea of what the pack looks like than the ones on My Trail's website, which don't really show the whole picture. I'll never know why a company doesn't show off its products with the best photos possible. Would love to read some additional reviews.

Note that Sierra Designs has an Andrew Skurka-designed pack called the Flex Capacitor, 40-60L, IIRC. 2.5 lbs, about $200.

Not bad I'm considering the Montbell Versalite 40 http://www.montbell.us/products/disp...2&p_id=1123823 while my kids are still so small I don't get to go out as much as I'd like so I don't see why I would spend bookoo money on a pack right now.

Those are helpful. Thanks! Yes, the Skurka-designed pack does look interesting.

I hadn't seen those before. Interesting. The 40L is only 25 ounces.

The mytrailco 50L is a very nice pack. A friend has one and I will be getting one soon. It is a lot like the older JAM. The compactor system is cool and is similar to the MLD prophet where as you can cinch it down when volume is smaller. I like it anyways.

Thanks. Please let me know how you enjoy the pack. Yes, the compacter system looks pretty cool.

The Golite brand packs are very good. My wife and I have used the Rush model for all of our trail running and day hikes. These have stood up to hard use for over ten years. Probably about 75 trail races including many long ultramarathons under tough weather conditions. I'm sorry to hear that these are no longer available. We should have bought two, would have lasted our lifetimes.
