While I don't often listen to music while walking, I often listen in the AM while packing and eating breakfast. I am a great fan of Walkin' Jim and two songs I find particularly fitting to get me in the proper, grateful mood each day, a mood that reminds me of how blessed I am, are the following:

    Morning In The Mountains:

TU Lyle for reminding us of Jin Walkin Stoltz. What an honor.

Walk in Beauty is one of my favorites. Love at about 55 secs in where he says "I realized I wasn't walking through beauty, I was walking in beauty...."

Some people miss that. I know I miss that at times.

Great way to start the day.

Jim Stolz connected rather than just walked through.

    Yes he did.

I was honored to see him in person on several occasions over the years. The last time I was one of the volunteers who took the tickets and sold his CD's at the concert. Got to chat with him for about a half hour or so, after the concert. Truly an inspiring man.

All of the photography was his own - very talented.

At 35 secs in Walk in Beauty he says something that is so key that can resonate us to a higher level concerning a realization of his 450 mile ID/MT border walk "it truly was a walk of thanksgiving."

That's so apt for the song title and the way he hiked.

When you talked to him did you get the sense that you were in the presence of a knowing, wise, loving, joyful, and humble being that transcended so much that is common?

Oh, for certain. I realized that the first time I met him at an American Hiking Society Conference in 1985. He performed for us one evening. Ever since that conference, I was a fan.

Depending on the weather, it can change a whole lot.
If it's rainy/overcast, I'll listen to some spacey, slow music like The Hics or Milk and Bone.
If it's sunny out or I'm tired and need to wake up, I'll listen to some alternative indie stuff like Of Monsters And Men or Seafret. If I really need to get going, some nice trap music does the trick (Injury Reserve is pretty good, as is Desiigner)
