My wife and I were on the trail this past week and came across a significant sign posted controlled burn area in an approximate 1.5 mile section of the AT leading up to the state Game Land cross road before the Eagles Nest Shelter several miles south of Port Clinton. The area and trail was charred and still smoldering when we came thru. The burn boundary abruptly ended at the service road crossing. The trail was quiet this past week so I'm not sure if any hikers were detoured or delayed, or if there's plans to continue with more underbrush burning in the future which may impact hiker traffic. There were no forestry staff around when we came thru to ask.
