If you think there's an audience, have at it!
I'm going to bed. Good night all.
Matt,
I'll keep to the terms contained in my post #1001. It would not serve my conscience well to make any money if you are unable to meet your sub40 goal. I just find it hard to empathize with your 'all-or-nothing' approach to the AT endurance record.
Losing a knowledgeable support crew resource like Lone Wolf is unfortunate, adding yet another obstacle that you will need to overcome to achieve your stated goal.
Is this thing still going to happen? What's the start date?
Squeaky, we are starting to melt snow here , only three feet left in much of western Maine providing there are no more big dumps.
WALK ON
nice one woodsy, thanks for all the hard work up there in maine !
its about time i updated the status of the sub40 trip, its been a while !
back in january my girlfriend Jamie fell pregnant, which was a shock to us both but never the less we were both very happy with the news. this of course changed my plans and i had to cancel the sub40 to put Jamie and the baby first. unfortunately soon after there was some compilcations and after a laparoscopy a ectopic pregancy was diagnosed and had to be removed before threatening Jamies life.
i have decided that it would be too soon for us to be apart for the summer and we would both very much like to spend it together in our new house.
my foot has still to recover and is at the moment preventing any training whatsoever. i am going to start intense physio to sort it out asap and give myself 12 months of hard training before an attempt in 2008.
due to the great support everyone has shown me here on WB and the hiking community i thought it only fair to be honest with my reasons for leaving another attempt until 2008. thanks again for your support and generous donations.
i do see things through that i set out to do and hiking the AT in less than 40 days will be no exception.
happy trails to all,
all the best, "SQUEAKY"
Sorry to hear about the pregnancy, sorry for both of you. You two need to spend time together and your foot needs to heal, the trail will still be there.
Maybe I'll see you out there in `08.
Best wishes!
Talk about changes in your life! I wish your wife the best.
2008 is too far given that 2007 has barely started. There could be many more changes in your life by then. For now, I'm giving up on assuming there will be a sub-40 anytime.

Squeaky,
The people you love (and your health!) come first. Everything else is distant second. The trail will be there for you in 2008.
Best of luck in whatever curve balls life throws at you.
