    Default End to End hike

Should I go nobo or sobo? Is it harder to get out of Journeys end or get to it via hitching or shuttle? I also am doing a section of the AT from MA/VT border to Katahdin, so I'm having a hard time figuring out should I go nobo than pick up where I left off or go sobo than back to the Maine junction. Any advice or help would be appreciated!

If you start in decent shape, sobo is logistically easier to get back to major airport on public transportation. But most people go nobo and obviously do just fine. Same people that shuttle from burlington to journeys end, can do the opposite with a phone call.

I've done the long trail both ways. When I went SOBO in 2003 it was easy to get a ride anywhere I needed to go. When NOBO 2010 you'll likely have to walk to North Troy and pay a shuttle back down to the AT junction. There's Everywhere Taxi that will do it.

We went nobo and enjoyed it. Getting back from the northern terminus was less trouble than we were led to expect. (We hiked back south to the VT 105 road crossing and hitched west to Richford, then took the commuter bus to St Alban's for the Amtrak train. Pretty easy.)
