    Default hiking around wesser n.c.

    we're looking for a 25-30 mile hike somewhere around wesser for later this spring. anybody done winding stair gap back to the noc? what about fontana to noc? which do you prefer?

    I prefer Winding Stair to NOC.

    both sections, very nice. i like from winding stair to noc better. same scenery, easier hike. i like hanging out on wesser bald. there's also been folks pickin' some bluegrass on wayah bald, at the old rock fire tower, twice when i was through there. good folks and good times.

    Although Cheoah Bald in the other section is one of my favorite campsites on the AT.

    Both sections very nice. However, WSG to NOC is my favorite, too. The day of your drive, hike the 4+ miles to Siler Bald - bring water to top. There are awesome tent sites on it. Then resume normal mileage to the NOC over the next couple of days.

    If you do WSG to NOC, don't forget to climb and possibly camp on Siler Bald!
