Default Winter Hiking parts of the CDT

It is a little early still but finally I am able to start the planning stages of my long over-due thru-hike of the CDT! It will still be a few years but I can start to see the light.

My question is what sections can be safely winter hiked? I'm ok dealing with the cold and can even travel through some snow as long as the danger of avalanche is not too risky. I figure Colorado would be out but places like NM or WY might be due able. Something to help me regain back my hiking legs!

I would check out NM south of ghost ranch. Google yo-yoing the CDT, Francis Tappon should come up.

Not Wyoming...we have blizzards of the most insane proportions in winter. The Great Basin is one of the worst areas because of the wind.
