Default GA, in April or May........

My first post here, but I am a longtime lurker on these forums.
I am a39 year old male, very experienced runner and long distance hiker and semi experienced backpacker.(Do not read that as I'm super fast,I'm a slow and steady wins the race kinda guy)

The original plan was to leave in April, attempt the thru Hike solo (the misses wants me to have a partner) but then a very recent, and horribly unexpected $2,800 engine swap in the family gas saver has put a doozie of a crunch on the budget and my plans.
Anywho, I said all that to say this......

I am definitely heading out to Springer in April? May?
Maybe stayout a month? Maybe 2 or 3? Maybe a thru if I really make some money between now and then (I'm a bartender) My plans and options are very open right now,so I just want to see what some of you may be planning, if someone needs a partner or has plans that would work in with my mostly "loose plans" at this point....well,it's saturday,I'm off today and it's raining in NC. And what do we do when it's Raining? Why pull out all of our gear and play with it of course 🤗

    See you on the Trail

    Well that stinks, sorry.

If I were going for a month from Springer I would leave May 1 or so. Perfect weather, and the big crowds would be gone. There will still be people on the trail, and it's safe and all that.

I've got a couple of friends thinking of starting the GA section. Not sure when they will be doing it. That said, I might be up for hitting the trail for a few days. I'm about 55mi from Springer.

That'd be great but I need to retire first.

Curious, first time on this site. Age 61, male, conservative. 150 miles under my belt last year. Have truck, shuttles are possible, could be very convenient. Experienced hiker, 10-15 / day miles anticipated, one zero day per week. Would probably hike around the weather and crowds. Thoughts?

That's about the timeframe I am looking at to head out, planning a thru but might only have time to hit the halfway point and pick it up again later on in life.
