    Well, I think I'll be okay, I'm skipping the muir at whitney portal, and flipflopping after canada back to lyell canyon to finish sobo at whitney. I think may is certainly ideal with all the snow though.

    Actually I think the even trickier question is when do you LEAVE KM.

    Kennedy Meadows is a great spot. It would be easy to spend two weeks there, exploring, fishing and climbing peaks. Crag Peak and Smith Mountain are fun 3rd class climbs. You could go up the trail a couple of days to climb Olancha Peak, one of the best peaks in the Sierra.

    ... So I would have to agree, the views are good from Olancha Peak and I would definitely hike to that :-)
