Default Squeaky/Noisy Osprey Pack? Here's what I discovered and how I fixed it.

So I've lived with my noisy Aether for a few years now and just tolerated it. Recently, I did some hiking in the dead of knight, and the noises became intolerable.

Here are some videos explaining the issues that I found on my pack, and how I fixed them. Sorry, I did everything on my iphone and cant splice clips on there.

Never had a pack that didn't squeak, but the Exos seems squeakier than the others. I chalk it up to the same karma where I've never had a pair of boots that didn't leak, or how every pair gives me blisters.

Default Squeaky/Noisy Osprey Pack? Here's what I discovered and how I fixed it.

Most days the squeak of my pack or the jingle of my cookset falls into a rhythm with my steps and helps me pace myself. On a bad day, those repetitive sounds get really annoying and distract me from the joy of being outside.

So for me, the fix is in my head not my pack.

That's awesome - and spot on. Like Guy Waterman said "if you can pick up a pack, you can carry it all day, if you have the right attitude." Or like my grandfather when coaching single-A baseball - the game you play between the lines will never be better than the game you play between your ears.

The squeaky frame is what drove me to sell my Exos.

I cut my teeth with Alice packs, nothing squeaks worse. After driving HMMWV's for several thousand miles, I don't even notice little squeaks anymore.

Incessantly squeaky trail runners I think are worse. I've returned several prs of shoes for this reason.

I wish that I hadn't read this thread. Yesterday my Osprey Atmos 65 started squeaking from the left shoulder strap in time with my right footstep. WD-40 fixes squeaks, right?

there is a special type of silicone based lubricant that is supposed to be used. It did not work for me.
