Cascade Carbon Fiber Trecking poles @ Costco.. $29

I picked these up for a friend who is new to hiking with poles. For $10 more then my Walmart poles, they are light, have decent locks and cork grips.

I did a search and did not see any posts on these yet (unless buried in a long thread, in which case sorry for the duplication).

Anyone have a pair of these? Any impressions? I plan to take them out for a hike tomorrow to check them out.

They are the best buy category and has been tested in long trails before. For 29 bucks nothing to worry about. Once I bought a pair of no name hiking poles fo rmy friend from a dollar shop for 3 dollars and they are still working formy friend after couple years of use.

I have several sets of these. I lend them to guests who hike with me. I like my Black Diamond poles better, but it is just personal preference. I have no complaints about the Costco Poles.

I bought them with twist locks a few years ago and put over 1000 miles on them till I busted a bottom section. I had a new section sent to me for $8.00. I have since passed that pair on and now I have the flick lock pair and I love them too. I only have from Rockfish Gap to the Ny-Ct border on them but they are doing fine. As for there boasts I don't know, but they have saved me from a spill or two. SO, yes I would recommend them to a friend, I would buy them again and again.

Yeah, but people break $150 hiking poles on the PA rocks too. Lower pole breaking is a pretty common problem hiking in rocky terrain.

When my lower section broke I inserted the tip end into the broken pole and duct taped them together for a few days till the replacement piece caught up to me.

i use aluminum now carbon is more fragile I think. Your right don't hurt so much with $49. Poles.

You can order them off Amazon for ~$45 usually or if you know someone that has a Costco membership, they can possibly order you some.

Got them weeks ago at Costco, have used them on a lot of day hikes and am bringing them on the AZT. So far they have been fine, seem better than my old REI and Komperdell poles, which were far more expensive. I like that they can be tightened without tools; I'd have to borrow a screwdriver from someone to tighten my old poles.

I have the cascade aluminums, they are great, never understood why people use carbon fiber, they snap easily. Not to mention being ultralight with your poles doesn't do much of anything imo, unless people are having trouble lifting 12 oz with their arms.
