Default Front Royal/Harper's Ferry parking and shuttle suggestions

Hi Whiteblaze, looking for the above on March 20. Parking for one vehicle until March 25. Can go S-N or N-S. At first glance it seems like parking somewhere in HF would be best, get shuttled to FR then hike back to the vehicle. Anyone have reliable recommendations? Thanks!

When I did this section I parked in the Harpers Ferry National Park Parking Lot, and got a shuttle from the Tea Horse Hostel in HF to Route 522 outside of Front Royal. You can call 304-506-2890 for shuttle info. Contact the National Park at (304) 535-6029 for parking details. I had to register my truck with them and they gave me a parking receipt to place on the dashboard.

Thanks for the helpful replies! Any charge for the HFNP parking lot? We will need a shuttle for two people.

this is the overnight parking form for HPNP: https://www.nps.gov/hafe/planyourvis...ht-Parking.pdf
Fill it out and give to the gate attendant. They will tell you where to park.

When I did Pen Mar to Harper's Ferry, left the car at the TeaHorse Hostel (like $3 a day).
    Owner's mom does shuttle service.
    To Pen Mar was $90.
I think the place is like $35 a night.

You could check with Mountain Home B&B (which is really a hiker hostel): https://www.facebook.com/mountainhomeinfrontroyal
They are right next to the AT outside of Front Royal. I stayed there in 2014 -- very helpful folks, and a really nice stay.

I did something similar, only in reverse. I had Laurel from TeaHorse Hostel pick me up at PenMar, I stayed the night at Teahorse, then hiked back to PenMar. Parking at PenMar is free.

At the north end, best long term parking is at the NP Visitor Center up on US340 (there is a daytime shuttle to and from the historic town where the AT cuts thru). Cost is very reasonable. Only downside is they lock their gate at night, which is great for security but bad if you need to fetch your vehicle after hours.

At the south end, many hikers park at the Northern Virginia 4-H Center. Experienced shuttlers should know where that is if you wanted to meet one there. No fee, but the 4-H Center wants you to fill out a form. For that form, and general info about parking there: http://www.nova4h.com/appalachian-trail/
