Your link doesn't break the $30 plus shipping barrier.
What if I gag & puke on the first nibble. Hey?
    Slightly better. Still no cigar.

You may as well be speaking in tongues.
Can I purchase a Paleo Bar individually over the counter?
    Otherwise I consider them useless.

I've seen them individually at some of the more upscale grocery stores like Wegman's in the Mid-Atlantic. You might have luck at Whole Foods or Harris Teeter as well.

    Thanks.
No worries. Whole Foods and Harris Teeter may as well be on another planet relative to my home.
I'll make do with my mega stash of jerky and old school bars.

That's box prices. I said where do I find singles in a store to buy JUST ONE. I want to demo one before committing to a $30 box purchase. just like Venchka said. I don't want to have to buy $30 of food I may not like. I've never seen these sold in stores individually for sale.

Mega jerky stash is a good thing. Not to be confused with a mega jerk.

I'm trying to wean off of Bars myself. Looking more towards dry goods type foods they used during the westward expansion. Amazing how much knowledge was lost in how to pack and prepare food for long journeys once mass distribution became prevalent.

I'm in the Brookshire's monopoly market. My daughter in Boone, NC has an Earth Fare and Harris Teeter. 30 miles north of Tyler and I'm having serious Trader Joe's withdrawal.
Mrs. Wayne makes a seriously great batch of brownies that held up famously for 2 weeks in New Mexico and Colorado last year. They will be in my pack from now on.

As the family cook, I only have one question:

Does Mrs. Wayne share her recipes?

Well, for an Aggie, I reckon.
Don't laugh. The recipe is on boxes of All Bran Buds. Guess what one of the ingredients is? Grinning.
    I hope you like them.

Lol. Thanks, I'll take a look. I rarely shop the cereal isle anymore, but I'll see if I can find it.

the calories are just too low for hiking.

That is a problem I have with many bars. I want 400 calories from a snack and they want to deliver 150. Or less.

That is a good point to consider. However, we can work that into a larger trail food scheme which we already do. Here are two more points to consider 1) every item, every ingredient one carries as trail food isn't massively calorie rich or we would all be eating noting but EVOO and butter fat calories. Examples are tuna in packets, some(many?) canned meats, mashed potatoes by itself , Ramen by itself, pasta, oatmeal by itself, etc. Nothing outstanding about caloric content in any of these examples yet these items are common on trail. WHY? Taste, perhaps reduced bulk, and caloric and NUTRIENT content is increased by addition of some fat making the items cumulatively a higher cal/oz ratio and perhaps nutrient rich. FOOD IS NOT JUST ABOUT CALORIES. FOOD IS ABOUT THE ENTIRE SPECTRUM OF NUTRIENTS.

They will have no problem allowing you to pair this with a Reese's Fast Break bar https://www.hersheys.com/reeses/en_u...-size-bar.html

    Trail snacks. Calorie dense.
    Mindy Lu's pies. 3.5 ounces. 330 calories. http://www.mindylupies.com/index.html Carbs.
Planter's Heart Healthy Nutrition nuts. 1.75 ounces. 260 calories. Fat.
Beef, turkey, pork, bison, tofurky jerky. About 100 calories/ounce. Protein.
    Repeat as needed.
    What's wrong with that?
Y'all are over thinking this. Again.

Yup. The Westward Expansion Diet? Is that a cross between the Gluten Free Paleo Pritikin Low Carb Ketogenic Mediterranean Hollywood Diets?
