Question On getting a trail shoe

Hey, guys.

I am in the market to get a decently priced hiking shoe. My original trail runners were bought at dsw and worked like a charm last year. I must have hiked, and wore those shoes (at work, every day) for a good amount of miles.

My issue is: I have wide, short feet, and plantar Fascitis. It took me 6 months to finally locate a shoe at dsw that worked good.

I found two shoes recently on the rei garage website that are my size and width but they are low-rise hiking shoes made by keen & Vasque. My best friend swears by her Vasque boots(Weak ankles so she prefers tall boots for support).

My question is: Do you think I should give the low rise boots a try? I do like my trail runners since I grew up with tennis shoes, and bare feet, but I am curious if a stiffer sole will help my feet. They are also on sale, my right size, and might last longer than my trail runners.

When you find shoes that work for you buy several pair. Especially since you're shopping the discontinued and closeout market.

If you liked your other shoes, buy more of the same.

Then....start looking at others

I have 3 pr of my current shoes in my closet. That I know work well for me. 2 pr are brand new, bought on clearance. Received for christmas.

About to order a new model to check out as well.

Plan ahead to have shoes on hand always.

With free shipping/return shipping, order and try anything you like. Eventually it will end up on clearance somewhere each yr.

Thanks. I ended up tracking down the newest edition of my shoe and purchasing it. I did have to order half size up because they did not have my exact size anymore.

The extra 1/2 size is usually a good idea. If you like the way the new shoes fit, stay with the extra half size.

My wife has an older pair of the Vasque Breeze GTX and loves them. It is an older model than what REI is showing though, got them off 6pm.com for ~$40 last year. I know you ended up with something else but just throwing it out there.
