Yes indeed. The Catalyst worked for me in Colorado last year. You can compress the Catalyst. You can't expand smaller packs.
Platypus 2 liter Hoser x ONE is plenty on the East Coast. Supplement with an empty SmartWater, etc. bottle if needed.
Why are you pleased with your weight?
I'm your height and my trail weight last September was 145 pounds.
    Drop a hundred pounds.
    Good luck.

[QUOTE=Regulus;2137443]What about some kind of liner for the cold nights and the Smokies or should I bite the bullet and get a nice 20 WM mummy bag or something? That would be a lot of coin for just a few nights.

I gave my sol emergency bivie to a shivering through hiker with a 40degree bag. She thought her wool base layer would keep her warm and she was a "gram weinie ". It was the mid level model, well under a pound, $30 paid a few years ago. Got a shout back from her that it was just right and got her comfortably through the smokies in march. She added it to her bounce bag as a new "essential ".

If you go this way skip the entry level Mylar - one tear and that stuff shreds!
