It was 35 F in Yellowstone this morning. I can't wait.

Theoretically, at higher elevations and early September, we can hope for 35 F mornings. The best tent sleeping weather with a warm bag & pad. Or two dogs.

35 sounds nice. Great sleeping weather, for sure. I've only looked at Pinedale average temps, so far. But lows are 30 in Sept. At ~7100 ft. If rule of thumb says 5 degrees lower for each 1000 ft......Could be chilly.
September backpacking in the Bighorns usually gets below freezing at night around 9000ft every time I have gone
I've had single digit temps right across the Wind River Valley in the Absaroka in August. I've also had absolutely glorious days with temps just a few degrees each side of freezing in the morning.
I am not up to a long trip like this but if any of you want to do a warmup dayhike or two let me know. I'm not gonna shuttle anyone to Big Sandy but certainly would consider doing it for Glacier Trail or Union Pass since I have family in the Dunoir Valley.
Dune, I'm an idiot that hikes solo in the far denser grizzly habitat of the Southern Absaroka all the time. Been fully charged, etc. Always looking for company whether here around home in Jackson, the Gros Ventre, Absaroka, and Northeastern Winds. I am Absarokanaut at bpbasecamp.freeforums.net and backcountrypost.com. Don't get here often. Big dog lover.
Single digits don't surprise me in that area, but they are rare at that time of year.
I think we have our transportation co-ordinated at this point, but thank you for your kind offer. Maybe you can meet us for a beer at the end of the adventure.
After this trip I am heading south for the winter to do some hiking in southern Utah so won't be in the area much longer, but again, I appreciate the offer.

well how was the trip?
I was on the other side of the divide from you.
I just got back myself. 2 weeks. To quote F.Bueller, "It is so choice."

We blast off September 4 for a week. The wait is killing me!
And then it will be over. Until next time.

It was definitely epic. Sadly not everything went as planned for everyone involved but it was truly an amazing week. Trip report and photos coming soon.
