Default April Fools' Day on the A.T.

I'll be hiking the A.T. on April 1st. Does anyone have any good April Fools' Day pranks that I could play on my hiker friends?

    Thanks in advance,

    Honkie

Convince them that they are hiking in the wrong direction.

or you could just.......you know......NOT do any of these things because putting your friends in danger is a really awful idea?

This was going to be my suggestion as well. Just make sure they aren't the type of "friend" who will use the rock to smash in your skull when they find it.

Do this carefully so they don't know, then scream, "BEAR", shaking the guy lines violently.

Hide their food bag before friends get up and blame raccoons and bears or maybe a homeless backwoods slasher with just one arm with a blade attached who stalks the night endless looking for his or someones arm so he could be whole again.

Get a lead on em. Hide behind a tree. Then run up behind em saying you've been trying to catch up all day.

We use to tie the two zippers together on someone's tent in Royal Rangers. Always good for a laugh.

    Boring.

You could ask them for a "left handed smoke shifter"

"Heard of that new dehydrated H2O?"

HEY! Take something real important to them like a water filter, or cellphone...Once they know its gone let them squirm a while...Hike in the back tho so they don't turn around to go back to camp without you stopping them, unless you are a true prankster lol

    Pee in their shoes

Put a candy bar in the bottom of their sleeping bags

Mash up bear scat into a square..."new brand of granola bar"

"new guy carries the beer, trail rules"

Set fire to a shelter and then get your friends to blame someone

Inform people that the president fired all employees of the NPS and the trail is closed.

I came out at Woody Gap on April 1st about 3-4 years ago and there was a guy there doing trail magic and he was telling everyone that the trail north of there was closed due to problem bear activity. Of course he straightened it out after he got the reaction he was looking for. Pretty funny actually.
I may never get to thru hike but I'll never get through hiking.

Not just on April 1st, but year round, hikers who eat at the bar at the Inn at the Long Trail in Vermont, are presented with a menu with the following selections:

    Ramen Noodles
    Peanut Butter
    Knorr Side, your choice
    Slim Jim
    GORP
    Little Debbie Sticky Bun
    Protein Bar

This gets a laugh from the guys behind the bar.
