    Default Leaving May 8th.

Hey guys. Im leaving May 8th for my NOBO thru-hike. Still looking for a group of people to hike with. If anyone is interested in hiking the approach trail on may 8th, and heading to katahdin, hit me up!!

    I started May 9th one year ('95)
I remember finding groups of stragglers who were more interested in partying and having fun than they were in getting to Maine.
I am still friends with some of these people as I slowed down a bit and partied with them for a few days, but eventually my priorities won out and I hustled onward.

It's not a bad time to start, but finding serious NOBO'ers that will do the miles necessary to make it to Baxter before Oct 15th might be a big of problem for you.
Eventually i caught up with more serious hikers and made it by Oct 14th that year.
Don't let your fears stand in the way of your dreams

I started April 28 in Georgia and met plenty of serious thru hikers who were late starters. You will pass a lot of "partying" hikers in the first month or so, but you will catch up to the end of the bubble once you hit Virginia. Enjoy the great weather which is one of the bonuses of starting later!
