What can you see from Katahdin?

No problem! I used to draw lines on a map to try to determine what I was looking at (after I got home). Then I discovered Caltopo. It's pretty accurate and even usually gives an accurate representation of the "shape" of the mountains in the distance.

Not sure if that link will work correctly but that gives you a good idea of what you'll see.

I first had that feature in Topo Maps app companion app Panoramascope. Now you can point your smart phone camera at the view and get the names of mountains with ViewRanger app.

from the summit of Mount Katahdin... once you manage to ignore the hoards of people that sometimes populate the summit, you will see in one direction the knife edge.. and most every other direction you see forests dotted with lakes stretching out to the horizone. It is one of the most spectacular views anywere in the northeast! What you won't see are towns, roads, or any industrial activity.Swinging around towards the knife edge you will also see mountains of Baxter State Park as well as the tundra on the table land.
