Default homeless man seen on AT/MD

Two weeks ago I was in Maryland to hike a section of the AT there and kept running into a homeless man at the trail-head/parking lot (Weverton), on the tow path and at the shelters. He told me that he was homeless, that he had been incarcerated for a sex crime (7 months....the things people will tell you! ) and he also was touching himself sexually. He calls himself "Jesse" and "the Better Way". I have reported this to the ATC and to the Rangers in Gathland SP. This is a heads up to my AT tribe. Watch out.

Sounds like the same guy i met in January at Dick's Dome Shelter, though he did not speak of his past crimes or current persuasions. Seemed harmless at the time, but with what you have shared, definitely someone that needs to be escorted somewhere else. Thanks for sharing this.

If it is the same guy I met, he was ~5'6, mid 20s, thin, dark-straight hair, with a little scruff of facial hair.

@woodstrider, does this sound like the same guy you met?

Did this guy ask for food or say he was low on food?! And did he have a raspy lisp?!

If he hasn't committed a crime, even though he says he is a sex offender, is there really anything that can be legally done about him?

Not sure of the details, but pretty sure that counts for something.
