CT 9 days unsupported FKT. What's that 54 avg/day? I'm sure we'll see hundreds of pics she took?

You are fast but not fast enough to hold that draft.

Colorado Trail Unsupported – Heather Anderson – Colorado – September 1-9

    Heather wrote:
“My route would follow the well established and challenging 500 mile Colorado Trail end to end. I would complete this route in an unsupported manner, carrying all supplies from the beginning and accepting no assistance along the way.”
Heather has been reading my mind. After reading Dan McHale's essay on long distance carries, I've been wondering, and almost posted my thoughts earlier today, when someone would attempt a FKT with minimum resupply.
Heather has chosen a worthy 500 mile challenge.
    Good luck Heather!
Will she attempt Dan's theoretical 800 mile limit next?

John Zahorian set the unsupported record last year (no resupplies), in nine and a half days. He posted a great video about it, dude's as much of a beast as she is. My understanding is the CT is a much more competitive record and for once, she might be in for a surprise.

I met John while he was on his record CT hike last year. In addition to being a beast, he is a very nice guy. Carrying that much weight, almost 500 miles and doing that mileage is amazing.

I watched his FTK video not too long ago - very impressive feat and a very impressive fella.

Might see David Anderson out there...going to be somewhere in that area from September 5th-10th. Of course he'd just look like another hiker to me.

I'd be careful not to be hiking in her blind spot. She has said she pees standing up...I guess to save time...to "GO" faster.

Malted Malto? Malto why are your shoes wet? It hasn't rained today and everything has been dry?

She likes rollin along by herself when after FKTs.

He will be over our heads. Literally. I thought that 2 weeks seemed a bit long for a WRR FKT. Then I read his trip brief. He and a partner are CLIMBING the 40 named peaks in the Wind River Range. That includes every summit in the Cirque. If they hike-climb SOBO we might be in the Cirque when they come through. Otherwise they'll be long gone when we get there.
    Are we there yet?

The pee would roll right off my dirty girls. Yeah, I will doing a much more leisurely pace of low 30s. I need to stop and smell the flowers.

Okay, so not quite the High Route I had in my head when I was thinking that.

No, not there yet...quit rushing the summer (that hasn't even kicked out winter yet) ...so many other hikes to do between now and then...

Alas, I only have Wyoming to look forward to. I'll be quiet.

Day hiking in a state park. Backpacking in New Mexico. LOL! Might as well go to Wyoming.
    I'm ok. Time will fly.

John's record is no joke. She'll be looking at a 30lbs pack for the first couple days at least. Tough to ever count her out, but that's going to be a dimension that wasnt there in her previous FKTs and doesn't play in her favor. Looking forward to what happens and wish her luck.

Hoping anyone with info/updates will share. Go Annish!
