Question Ben and Jerry's in Waterbury

    Howdy,

Does anyone have anything bad to say about the Ben and Jerry's tour in Waterbury?

I'm not planning on resupplying in Waterbury, as of now, but am thinking of stepping off Trail for the factory tour, since it's such a unique opportunity. I figure it'll take a half day, all told, like a long resupply stop.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Brian

***Sorry, I should add that this will be during a sobo section hike from the northern terminus to Rutland/Rt4.

I wish we had gone on the tour - it's unlikely that we'll get back to Waterbury any time soon

Resupply in Waterbury was pretty nice - best small grocery store we found on the trail - and there are some excellent places to eat and to stay, in case you want to make an overnight stop out of it.

I did the tour back a while ago (late 90's). I liked it and their ice cream is awesome. I haven't been there lately so I'm not sure what has changed or not.

I've tried twice to take the tour and both times the lines were so long we decided against it.

I've been on it a couple of times. The last time, my group was small (maybe 20 or so), so when we got to the end where the samples are given out, they had a tray with probably 50 or 60 small sample cups with different ice cream flavors. Some people only had one but, hey, they were just sitting there melting so I must have had five.

While there, visit the "Flavor Graveyard" near the parking lot. It's where they have headstones for the flavors that were tried and subsequently retired. When you read some that were only in production for a short time, it makes you wonder what they were thinking when they came up with those flavors.
