Default Anyone going SOBO around June 2018?

It seems like everyone goes NOBO which was what I was hoping for but looks like life is gonna make me start a bit late, SOBO it is! This will be my first big solo excursion wondering if anyone else will be heading South with me!!

Hi there! I'll be heading SOBO and hopefully starting on 6/16/18. This is my first attempt at a thru hike, the longest I've been in the back country is 10 days (and it wasn't in the Northeast!)

Hope to see ya out there!

Trails up probably won't be open that early.

You could skip Katahdin and start south thru the HMW, but that's not advisable either. This could be a another big snow year and the big storm late in fall did a lot of trail damage which hasn't been fixed yet due to the early and heavy snow. Anyone starting in early June should expect lots of obstacles and rough trail.

Hey thanks! I just requested to join the FB group. I'll keep an eye on the open dates. Some friends are joining me for the 100 miles of wilderness and it would be a shame if we didn't get to climb Katahdin.

Hello JPax!! I will be heading south around the same time! We both wanted to go NOBO, but like you said due to life and timing we are going with the flow. I have to say I have hiked in Maine and NH many times and done the last 200 miles of the AT (if you are NOBO) and it is spectacular. I will be sad to know that I am leaving it behind and ending elsewhere. BUT I am amazed by all of nature and am beyond excited to see what they South holds!!!! I hope to see you out there
