    Question Helio Pressure Showers

As of late there appear to be several new products that claim to offer pressurized camp showers. I saw the NEMO Helio at REI and w/o water of course, it weighs but a pound plus; not that I'm ready to put it in my pack. It might be nice for car camping however. Has anyone had any experiences with this or other such products?

Here is the Hello, which comes in 2 sizes:

You might want to give the Simple Shower a look. Screws onto any one or two liter bottle and is lighter than the Helio.

How about just getting an old cap from a Pepsi bottle (or whatever type of bottle you use) and drill some holes in it?

If you are car camping at campgrounds, all of the ones I've camped at had restrooms with showers, some free, others required quarters.
If you are camping in the woods without facilities, then I would absolutely add a Nemo Helio Shower to my car camping gear, for backpacking however, I would rather carry a travel pack of wet wipes to clean up, they weigh much less than the Helio or other showers and the weight decreases with each "bath"
    IMHO.

If you're looking for something strictly for car camping, check out the Zodi. A true pressurized, hot shower. It is a bit bulky and heavy but works like a charm.

Here is an clever idea for a DIY car camping shower:

If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.

I'd rather have a bucket. I've lived off grid for more than 10 years and shower with a bucket every day. A lot less complicated than a camp shower.

I suppose that would work, but the Simple Shower has a air relief tube in it so you don't have to keep flipping it back and forth.

That Zodi thing looks like quite the production.

I've done the bucket thing. Not fancy enough for me. Can you still be "off grid" if you're online in a chat room?

Yes off grid as in electric grid . I've lived off grid since 1984.

I am confused by what you mean off the grid. Maybe you have solar or wind generate your electricity but how do you get internet service?

I don't know the answer here, but one technique that satisfies a lot of off-gridders is a cantenna (named after the original repurposing of a Pringles can as a waveguide antenna) to pick up on a neighbor's WiFi. This can work a mile away.

    IMHO.
A lot of National parks don't have showers. The Smokies don't, though they can usually direct one to a private business nearby which does.

Yep. That's why I gave the disclaimer of it being purely a car camping item. It really works though and consist of only 2 parts, a pressurized 2.5 gallon tank & a stand. You supply the propane canister for heating the water. Really very simple.

There are plenty of places with free wi-fi. I don't have running water or electricity, but I charge a cell phone and a laptop when I drive my car.
