    Question Green Feet Questions

I am not much of an insole kind of guy. My feet don't have many issues. However, I have suffered from planter fasciatitis due to poorly supported dress shoes. During that time I placed inserts into my old Merrill boots and I must admit that they helped extend the life of the boots.
Now I have new trail shoes and am wondering how others use green feet? Do you wear new shoes for so many miles and then switch to inserts? If so, about how many miles?
If you put them in right away, do you always replace when you get new shoes or do the insoles last for more miles than the shoes? If so, any idea of how many miles?
I would love to hear from thru hikers that have used them on the trail. I know trail shoes last about 500 miles so wondering the life of Super feet insoles.
Looking for help planning shoe expense for 2018 attempt. However this will also help my fall and winter training. Thanks!

I've used the Superfeet Green, Blue, and Orange insoles.

now with trail runners such as Brooks Cascadia or Asics Gel Venture shoes, I only use the Blue Superfeet insoles

it comes down to your personal preferences, try them on the trail, see which work best for you

the green are popular with a lot of AT hikers who use the heavier hiking shoes or boots

but with my history of achilles tendonitis, I have to work constantly on stretching and proper footwear is critical

    good luck

I also use green Superfeet and they go into my new hiking footwear as soon as I buy them. They last me around 500 miles or so. I can tell when they wear out, because the bottom of my feet will begin to hurt after about 8 miles into a hike.

I use Blue or Green (but mostly Green) depending upon the volume of the shoe. I put them in all my trail and road running shoes and put them in immediately after buying the shoes and toss the original soles as most are pretty worthless.
Remote for detachment, narrow for chosen company, winding for leisure, lonely for contemplation, the Trail beckons not merely north and south, but upward to the body, mind, and soul of man.

We switched to the Sole brand insoles a few years ago. Same as some other folks, I put insoles in my new shoes immediately. They are for arch support, rather than for making a worn out shoe usable again.

I wear greens, but carve away the heel cup. To quote Ray : "It's your shoe."

Just checked, I've got 900 miles on my blue Superfeet. I think I'll invest in a new pair.

i'll keep them for my #2 boots and put new ones in my prime pair. It'll save switching them back and forth. Forgot once and it took me a while to figure why my feet hurt.

Thanks for the help everyone! I have around 200 miles on my Salomens and my feet are started to ache after my day hikes. Time to purchase a set. Then when I purchase a pair on the trail, I will probably buy a new set of Green Feet at the same time, if only as insurance against the weaker insoles of the shoes.

Superfeet are designed for the way most people's feet pronate. Some people feet pronate more than others, hence all the colors. But even then, some people's feet will not like Superfeet and it will cause them additional foot pain. So try them out on some shorter trips before going on a long backpacking trip to make sure your feet are comfortable with them.

I personally like the Green Superfeet in my hiking shoes, but I known people who can't tolerate them.

My feet have what's termed "high volume". A substantial insole like Superfeet squashes the tops of my feet against my shoes. Maybe if I got EEEE shoes instead of EE there might be room, but I'm dubious even about that.

I've used the green for several years but had to go to a lower volume for the LP3.5....bought the carbon version as it's lower volume, so far so good but only have 100 miles on them...

I bought some Green's to put into my high volume NB Leadville's. Interestingly, the Superfeet were basically identically sized and shaped to the NB insole. No trimming required. My feet have never felt better.
