Default Camping at Deep Gap, NC

I'm taking some friends for a long day hike, Deep Gap down to Dick's Creek, and I was wondering if there are any spots near the parking area at Deep Gap to set up a couple of tents. We want to leave a car there and at Dick's Creek, and get an early start to get the 15.8 in.

No troubles at all. The end of the road is a big turn-around just shy of the trail. Best place is to cross the AT and go up a little hill that is the top of the saddle on the gap. There is no water.

You might find some water down Kimsey Creek Trail. As I recall there is a camping spot by the creek not far from Deep Gap. FWIW, Muskrat Shelter is only 4mi down from Deep Gap.

There is also a large meadow down hill from the Deep Gap parking area. Water is either Kimsey Creek or north on the trail. 0.2 miles a stream and 0.3 miles and piped source.
