    Default Tired of stressing

I finally ordered the Marmot Sawtooth bag. REI has it on sale, and I want to get out and do some 3-4 day shakedown hikes. I believe this calls for a

Nothing will completely relieve the stress of anticipation like actually getting out and doing some trips.

Do the first trips in nice weather to gain some confidence and learn how to use your kit. Do some more trips in slightly adverse weather to learn how to handle it and find shortcomings in your gear and — especially — your outdoor skills. Then do a trip or two in some truly *****ty weather (cold+wet) and if you make it through those still excited about backpacking you have arrived.

Marmot makes some nice, efficient bags well-suited to those of us who aren't claustrophobic. (Their polite term for a snug fit is "body contouring".) Hope this choice works out well for you.
