You can get 6 cans for $18 on Amazon.

Brown bread (sent to myself in maildrops) and cream cheese were staples on my thru-hike in '87. By New England, I couldn't stomach dry foods like packaged cheese and crackers, and the moistness of the brown bread combined with cream cheese was heavenly. I had sort of forgotten about it, because I don't see it in my local grocery stores any more.
Used your link and saw that it ships in 1 to 2 months....bummer :-)

Ok.... I'm from the Midwest, and never heard of the stuff before. Curiously this topic came up as I just saw the B&M Brown Bread can at a large local grocery store and I thought...what is that! I didn't look too close at it and assumed it was like a canned fruit cake or similar. Thanks to this topic, nowI gotta go back and get a can to try.
I grew up eating them. I lived in Wisconsin, but of course, this was a couple years ago . We used to eat them with cream cheese, cuts the sweet a bit. All sugar isn't equal in the body and if it is still black strap molasses, that is high in B vitamins. I imagine it would be good hiking fuel. And for the record, I hate fruitcake and liked those, at least back then.
