Long Trail Asbestos Mine

More than a few folks don't realize that when hiking the Long Trail they are walking right by a very large former asbestos mining complex. The trail runs along the opposite side of the ridge but there is spur trail to fire tower on the summit, which looks down over it.

Local realtors used to advertise prime properties in Eden Vt with frontage on the Long Trail for reasonable bucks, usually it was near the mine.
