Question Samsung S8 plus portable charger??

I reached out to Anker and I'm awaiting an answer. But...

Anyone have experience on other portable chargers that will give me 5 full charges on a S8 plus?

To get 5 charges on a 3000 Mah battery, your gonna need at least 20,000 on a reputable battery pack. Of course two 10,000s will work too.....

Probably take .....most of a day....to recharge that 20,000.

Two 10s can charge in half the time, because they charge separately. My 10,000 basically takes overnight, about 8 hrs.

You are right on the recharge time. I can break even if I solar charge it during the day on a good clear day. Being able to double up on 10s makes sense though

5 FULL charges on an S8+ is a tall order, especially for something you're planning on carrying on a backpacking trip (due to size and weight). How about 2.5 to 3 FULL charges? I recently purchased the Tronsmart Presto 10400mAh based on the review from Wirecutter: http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/bes...d-power-banks/

It is pretty light and it fully supports Samsung's Adaptave Fast Charging. I rarely let my S8 Active go all the way down to 0% so this battery can get me through several days.

I have the Anker powercore 20000 and the S8 standard. Have not used it on the trail yet, but I did a test at home. I used my phone normally each day, which drained it to about 50%. I charged it each night with the Anker, and got 4 charges, with the last charge only bringing the phone to about 80%.

I was planning on using it for 5-day hikes, and getting a charge for each of the 4 nights was my goal, so I think it will work for me.

    I'll look into it, thanks.

Might want to look for a power pack that has dual charging inputs. Allows the battery to charge faster. As said above, on one that size, it will take a while.

    Drift...
    I recently returned from a trip with a S8+.
Carried the cheapo TLVT 5200 brick that came with the phone.
Tested at one full charge from the brick..maybe a little more.
Put phone on max battery power saving mode, killed all apps and activated airplane.
After 7 days and 300 pics I still had 46% charge.

Had no service where I was, so it was strictly a camera.
Still amazed. I could have gone almost 4 weeks with two charges.

two batteries + phone is a better combo and also provides more charge input so you can soak up the juice when you hit shorter store stops. 2x2.4amp dual usb square with foldable plug--maybe carry 2 of those as well--the quad port chargers are too heavy and are slower charger if you plug in 4 things vs using two dual port usb chargers so you can get 4x 5v/2.4amp. and the big batteries seem to take 8 to 10-16hours to recharge intown
See ya when I get there.

Can you recommend a 2x2 usb charger?

Swisscross has the right idea. Play around with the various power savings modes to get what you need minimally. In max savings mode the phone runs forever, so much so that I've considered not even taking a battery pack on weekend trips. Once you get comfortable about the battery life, you might not need at huge battery pack.

Good suggestion. I'll give it a try.

I can't recommend a 2-port charger, but I can recommend a 4-port unit: this MoMoCity 4-Port USB Power Adapter. It's got the two 2.4 amp ports and also two 2.1 amp ports. Your headlamp and bluetooth headphones will work fine with the lower power outputs. Plus if you're in a laundromat or other space with limited access to wall outlets, you can share the power with other hikers.
