    Default Hammersley Wild Area (PA)

    http://www.docs.dcnr.pa.gov/cs/group...2019-04-10.pdf

Has 50 miles of new trails with many loop options. There are mountaintop meadows, old growth forests, beautiful streams, swimming hole, great camping, and scenic forests. The Hammersley is PA's premier wild area known for its scenery and isolation.

It doesn't look like a lot of loops on the map. I see the STS (85 miles loop) passing through in orange. But the trails look mostly linear needing road walks to make loops.

Have not hiked new Hammersly Trails, but highly recommend the STS. Many options exist to do less than the full 85 miles (or do more, if you want) without retracing your steps.

Ditto. Have done the STS several times now. A favorite trail of mine. I always liked the hike out of cross forks into HWA.
.....Someday, like many others who joined WB in the early years, I may dry up and dissapear....
