    Default Campsites in Cumberland Valley?

Planning a section hike from PenMar to Duncannon. Any good spots between Carlisle/US 11 and Darlington Shelter?

Pretty sure there is no camping allowed in that stretch. It’s only five or six miles, the first four quite easy until the climb to the shelter. Any reason you don’t want to just continue to Darlington? There is a large tenting area there a short distance from the shelter.

There is no camping allowed between Carlisle and Darlington shelter. The trail goes through private farmlands. You can camp at the camp site in Boiling Springs and then do the no camping stretch in one day. It's very flat and easy walking.

The total mileage between authorized camping is 14 miles which begins at Boiling Springs and ends at Darlington shelter.

However, you do not want to camp at the hikers campsite south of Boiling Springs. It's right next the RR tracks and freight trains screech by about once an hour all night long. You either do the long haul between the shelters on either end, or go to the motel in Carlisle at RT 11, as it seems you have realized.

Staring that day from Alec Kennedy shelter, would be 18 miles the Darlington. 4 miles to Boiling Springs, 12 to Carlisle. Thinking of getting a room in Carlisle, but it's only 2 days from Pine Grove Furnace and a day from Duncannon (end point). Seems a waste of town stop.

I'm a slow hiker but I did Darlington to Alec Kennedy shelter in a day, no sweat, with a leisurely stop in Boiling Springs for late lunch and a visit to the ATC center there.

This is all accurate. I went from BS to Duncannon in about 8-9 hours
