Has anyone done this loop in the winter? Thinking of doing this on a Sunday - Tuesday in December and was curious to how crowded it gets. Any other 3 day loops around GA, NC or TN? The less people the better.

I did it once after Christmas. The only people we saw was a man, his son, and their Dog at Big Spring shelter the first night.

I've done it numerous times, but not that time of year. I'm guessing with the campground closed for the season and the access road closed to Deep Gap, the loop will be mighty lonely in December.
It won't be crowded. You will have a better chance seeing hunters than hikers.
Deep Gap Road and the Campground will be closed.
I would just keep an eye on forecasts in the event of snow.

Yes it snowed quite a bit the Christmas that I did the loop and the wind was howling.
