If you look in Google Earth (or satellite view of Google Maps), you can clearly see the trail that goes pretty much strait up a hill:

Scroll out from that link and you'll see Google Map's waypoint for Charlies Bunion at the "tourist" bunion off to the left.
But keep in mind the satellite image shown was captured in late November. If you go during the summer, expect growth that is 4' tall mostly hiding the trail.
The spur trail’s easier to spot in the winter time. You can see the spur trail on the satellite imagery. It’s pretty easy to follow if you can find the start in the summer weeds.

Another clue is that the trail splits off in the middle of a clearing. It kinda looks like it was old landslide on the south slope of the Bunion from long ago.
